Learn to Build the Life of Your Dream

Learn to build the life of your dreams with a tiny house building workshop in Portland. You may be aware of the tiny house buzz as of late, and perhaps you've been stung with the desire of building a tiny house of your own. Dreaming of small house living and adopting a back to basics lifestyle is wonderful, but what if you're ready to make that dream a reality and have no idea where to begin? A workshop could be the perfect next step for you to make your dreams a reality. Tiny house designs are springing up all over the internet, with so many different options available to choose from. People are uploading their tiny house designs and plans for others to buy or sometimes to use for free. If you don't like any of the tiny house designs you see out there currently, what better way to get exactly what you want than to design your own plans for yourself? It's actually quite simple, all you have do do is start sketching. If all you have is a pen and some paper, simply just draw out what you envision for your tiny house designs. Once you're happy with what you have, you can start working with a program called Sketch Up on the computer, or take your ideas to a designer to have them draft them up professionally.

Deciding the type of tiny house floor plan you want can be hard if you don't really know what you want. So it's also important to look at other tiny houses and get an idea of what you like about each one and what you would rather not include in your tiny house designs too. You may really like how one tiny house has a staircase with storage leading up to the sleeping loft, but you may not like the size of the compartments, and you may want to put doors on them instead of leaving them open. Creating a Pinterest account is a great way to gather all of your tiny house design ideas in one place and to find ideas from all over the internet. You could even print out some of the designs or show your ideas to your designer so they have a clear idea of what you want. The tiny house building workshop will also help you with this in greater detail, taking you through some of the most important things to consider as you design. You'll also learn about the materials you'll need and how to get started on gathering them up, how to get water into your house, and how to set up electricity too.

The course is hosted by Dee Williams and Joan Grimm of Portland Alternative Dwellings (PAD). Dee Williams is one of the pioneers of the tiny house movement, having built her own tiny house all by herself. So you'll be sure to gain a lot of amazing, practical information from her. The course runs the weekend of March 4th and 5th 2017, and it only costs $325 per person, or only $300 if you sign up with a friend or partner. There's also a giveaway for a full set of house plans from PAD, which is great for someone just starting out on their tiny house building journey. All of the course participants will get 30% off of the plans found on the PAD website as well. Overall, this would be a great way to start out the new year toward your small house living journey. Before you know it, you'll be living in your own tiny house on wheels and living the life of your dreams.***
